INDO US Nuclear Deal

Much has been talked and written about Indo Nuclear US deal. Left even pulled out support for government for this deal and if situation gets worst ahead(i.e. if government doesn’t prove it's majority) then this deal will have one more tag on it's crown i.e. cause of government failure. Hence it become essential to take an eagles eye view on this deal.

What is Indo US nuclear Deal?
As per 123 act of the International Atomic Energy Act of 1954, it will make US to make one time exception for India to keep it's nuclear weapon without signing the Nuclear Non -Proliferation Act(NPT)
Also it will overturn a 30-year-old US ban on supplying India with nuclear fuel and technology, implemented after India's first nuclear test in 1974.
And if deal goes through, India will separate its civilian and military nuclear facilities, and submit civilian facilities to inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

How It will Help India?
With growing demand of Energy in India and Cost of Oil, fuel is sky rocketing, India finds an answer to this problem in form of Nuclear deal. With this nuclear deal, India will seek help to develop nuclear power plant for civilian energy production and it is estimated that by 2020, 7% of energy requirement will be fulfilled by Nuclear energy (though it is still less comparatively to US and other European countries). India, which imports around 70% oil, for its energy production, will be relieved, if it gets every such megawatt produced through nuclear plants.

It will open the gates for Indo-US cooperation in lucrative space research and scientific cooperation in many fields which are currently barred to Indians. The US has refused to offer a similar deal to Pakistan. India, has demonstrated that it is a responsible nuclear power. Pakistan, on the other hand, is accused of helping nuclear proliferation.(The IAEA said in 2004 that Libya and Iran's nuclear programs were based on Chinese technology provided by Pakistan)

With this deal, hurdles for procuring nuclear fuel and advanced technology will be removed. India will have an easy access to US high and dual nuclear technology. This will help India to build more power reactors and maintain uninterrupted supply of technology and fuel to those power reactors. As of now India is having 15 nuclear plants in working condition and additional 7 are under construction. Out of 22 plants, India will put 14 plants under civilian and other plan's will be military.

How it will help US?
US finds India as a key strategic partner. A democratic country like India, which is quite responsible and which can aid US in case of growing threat of terrorism. Also China is said to have supported Pakistan's nuclear weapons program since the 1980s. Some analysts see the Indo-US deal as part of attempts by larger powers, the US and China, to shore up influence in South Asia by building up rival arsenals. US finds an answer in form India, if it has to overpower China

Why Left is making Fuss all about it?
Currently In India, there are around 15 nuclear plants in working condition and 7 are under construction. If deal goes thru, India will put 14 of it's plants as "Civilian" which can be used for Energy production and other plants will be used for military purpose. IAEA will have an access to only civilian power plants.

There is quite confusion with this. Left think that by signing this deal Indian will become slave of US and US will have an access to Indian Nuclear Program. India never signed NPT and secretly developed it's nuclear program until now. It also carried out nuclear tests despite s o much opposition all around the world. By signing this deal, this will contradict India’s nuclear policy
